The name 'Sandy Lane' conjures up images of serene style in a gloriously exotic setting. Luxurious rooms, stylish surroundings in an exclusive romantic location, wonderful sunsets and a truly bajan setting

Only 35 minutes from Grantely Adams International Airport Sandy Lane in Barbados has been considered the premier address in the Caribbean - preferred by royalty, movie stars and many of the business world's most discriminating personalities.

Now; after three years of redeveloping the entire property to ensure that it maintains its eminence in the 21st century, Sandy Lane Hotel and Golf Club in Barbados has reopened as the premier luxury resort in the world.

Sandy Lane is the complete resort … where you can be as active or relaxed as you wish; a romantic retreat for those seeking seclusion, a haven of tranquillity for couples, or the perfect location for families who desire the finest holiday experience with the widest choice of leisure options.

From the very first moment you arrive, you realize that Sandy Lane is no ordinary hotel. As your chauffeured limousine sweeps smoothly into the driveway, you glimpse, between the lines of mature mahogany trees, a Palladian-style building of cream coralstone shimmering in the sunlight and the sapphire waters of the Caribbean sea.

AN EXCLUSIVE EXPERIENCE - THE SANDY LANE HOTEL, BARBADOS

Sandy Lane Hotel was created over thirty years ago in 1961 by socialite Ronald Tree as a place to house his friends who came to visit him in Barbados. It soon became the address in the Caribbean for the Rothschilds, Astors, Onassis, and Maria Callas, by Dukes and movie stars and today by the discerning traveller of all nationalities and backgrounds in the search for the ultimate retreat in the sun. From the early days the resort became highly renowned for its personal service amidst understated style and comfort.

After a recent three year refurbishment and development programme, at a cost of US$400 million, Sandy Lane has reinvented itself for the 21st century with a contemporary air of quiet sophistication and glamour. The new look resort now combines the traditional white coral stone and Palladian architecture of the original building with the lavish creation of tastefully cool bedrooms and suites, three Tom Fazio golf courses, nine tennis courts and a luxurious Spa, not to mention a choice of bars, restaurants and shops.

A BAJAN WELCOME

Barbados is often referred to as "Little England" or "England in the Tropics" due to its rich blend of Colonial lifestyle together with a lively West Indian culture and friendly hospitality. Here you will find little seaside villages, beautiful gardens, English country churches dating from the 17th century and cricket as the national sport. This is a majestic island with its vast expanse of panoramic valleys, acres of sugar plantations, with the wild crashing Atlantic on the East coast in contrast with the clear, gentle Caribbean lapping the West coast white sandy beaches.

The climate year round is warm and sunny; average daytime temperature of 75 - 85F with rain showers in the summer months. It`s therefore the perfect playground for visitors wishing to escape the cold European winter. Whether you are seeking complete relaxation, a romantic retreat, a sporting or family holiday, you will find the perfect destination at Sandy Lane on the exquisite resort island of Barbados.

Guests are met at the airport and taken by chauffeured limousine the 35 minutes drive to the hotel where a true Bajan welcome of tropical fruit punch, chilled towels and a warm smile awaits. The pampering and personal service has begun. With the concierge, your appointed hostess and an array of guest services on hand, your every wish is Sandy Lane`s command.

SAND & SEA

The beach at Sandy Lane has been described as technically one of the most perfect and best beaches in the Caribbean. Soft white baby-powder sand, the turquoise sea as warm as bath-water, clear and calm, with two reefs at each end of the perfect curve of the bay. Sit here, relax and dream by the heat of the day and as the blood-red sun plunges down at dusk, let the fragrant evening breeze cool the senses…

GOLF, SPA & LEISURE

Tom Fazio, one of the world`s top golf course designers, created the Country Club course as well as the new challenging championship Green Monkey course at Sandy Lane. The Country Club, 7060 yards, PAR 74 course features lush greens, five lakes and open fairways. Named after the famous local Bajan green monkeys, the course has been carved out of a quarry with spectacular views of the Caribbean. For beginners or for a less demanding game, there's also the original Old Nine course, designed back in 1961, which winds its way through the tree-lined fairways.

The Clubhouse is the focal point of golf at Sandy Lane, overlooking the 18th hole of the Country Club course, featuring a pro shop, locker room, restaurant and bar. As you would expect from a 5 star resort there is a professionally trained PGA caddy service as well as a high-tech satellite location system to the green and bunkers.

The new sumptuous multi-million Spa offers guests the use of a 7,500 square foot pool with a waterfall, a vast high-tech gymnasium and every type of Indian, Orient and Caribbean treatment you could wish for to indulge the senses. The menu of healing therapies, aromatherapy massage, facials, holistic salt rubs, yoga and Chakra rituals is not only enticing but beneficial to health and beauty. Relax away all stress in a hydrotherapy treatment, visit the Crystal Laconium and the Ice Cave and you can be assured that this Spa paradise will detox, pamper and soothe your body, mind and soul.

Outwith the hotel, the Concierge can organise sailing, a cruise by catamaran, watersports, diving, an island tour or other day trip to other islands nearby.

To give parents a relaxing break to enjoy the sports and Spa, and to ensure children have a carefree time, the Treehouse children`s club is supervised by a team of nannies offering a programme of games and sports.

WINING & DINING

At breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner be prepared for a feast of delights. Champagne and vodka are on the breakfast buffet for those who wish to start the day with a buzz. And why not? This is a palace of pleasure and decadence.
